  Montbéliard

Montbéliardes are daual purpose breeds:

The  are  milk and meat breeds, which are easily maintained under elementary conditions. The animals are red pied with white heads and short horns, and of dairy type.
Th
e breed has spread to many countries and is becoming popular for crossing with Holsteins to give improved longevity and fertility.

Mature cows weigh 600 to 700 kg.  And mature bulls weigh 900 to 1,200 kg. The milk is particularly well suited to cheesemaking because of a high frequency of kappa casein BB variants,  giving higher yields of cheese. Being of less extreme dairy type than modern Holsteins, the cows have lower milk yields, but better longevity and fertility and lower cell counts in the milk, indicating lower mastitis incidence.

Milk poroduction:
The milk production of Montbéliard cow in 316 days is  7.000 kg with 3,90% fat and 3,40% protein. This production is realized on the basis of a simple diet, with lots of roughage (hay, grass silage and/or corn) and with simple supplementation of concentrates and/or crushed grain.

     Limousin

Limousin cattle are a breed of highly muscled beef cattle originating from the  Limousin  and Marche regions of France. The breed is known as Limousine  in France. They are naturally horned and have a distinctive lighter wheat to darker golden-red colouring, although international breeders have now bred polled (do not have horns) and black Limousins.
Limousins have become popular because of their low birth weights (ease of calving), higher than average dressing percentage (ratio of carcase to live weight) and yield (ratio of meat to carcase), high feed conversion efficiency, and their ability to produce lean, tender meat.
Over time, this race has evolved into a meat breed, which is simple to maintain. Today Limousins are widespread due to their rapid adaptation to different climates. Limousin is a large race. A cow can be 150 to 160 centimetres and a bull between 170 and 180. The bulls can weigh around 1200 kilo’s.
Growth rate:
The data shows that the average growth per day for calves of 0-8 months ranges from 1000 to 1500 grams. In an intensive nutrition, an increase of 1500 grams per day is achievable after weaning.

Slaughter returns:
The % of meat at slaughter varies from 65-70%. Very remarkable is that the Limousin, because of its light bone structure, coupled with the best muscle, is capable of bringing the percentage of lean meat in the carcass to about 80%.

                                                 Holstein Friesian  Heifer

Holstein Friesians  are a breed of cattle known today as the world's highest-production dairy cows. Originating in  Europe. Friesians were bred in what is now the Netherlands and more specifically in the two northern provinces of  North Holland Friesland, and  Northern Germany, more specifically what is now  Schlesweg-Holstein, Germany. The animals were the regional cattle of the Friesian and the Saaxons. The Dutch and German breeders bred and oversaw the development of the breed with the goal of obtaining animals that could best use grass, the area's most abundant resource. Over the centuries, the result was a high-producing, black-and-white dairy cow. It is black and white due to artificial selection by the breeders.

Simmentaler-Fleckvieh

The Simmental which colled also Fleckvieh is a dual purpose cow and among the oldest and most widely distributed of all breeds of cattle in the world.
It has historically been used for dairy and beef, and as draught animals. The simmelthas are particularly renowned for the rapid growth of their young, if given sufficient feed. Although the first herd book was established in the Swiss Canton of Berne in 1806, there is evidence of large, productive red and white cattle found much earlier in ecclesiastical and secular property records of western Switzerland. These red and white animals were highly sought because of their "rapid growth development; outstanding production of milk, butter, and cheese; and for their use as draught animals." they were known for their imposing stature and excellent dairy qualities.

                      Brown Swiss

Brown Swiss is a breed of dairy cattle that produces the second largest quantity of milk   per year, over 7,000 kg. Making their milk excellent for production of cheese. The Brown Swiss is known for a long gestation period, immense size, large furry ears, and an extremely docile temperament. Regardless, the Brown Swiss is quite a resilient breed of cattle; they are hardy and capable of subsisting with little care or feed.

The Brown Swiss originated on the slopes of the Alps in Switzerland: because they were bred in this harsh climate, they are resistant to the heat, cold and many other common cattle problems. Large populations are found in Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Austria. But Brown Swiss cows are also milked in France, the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand, Central and South America and North Africa.

Charolais are bred primarily for meat production. The Cattle Site provides a table of meat weights from various cattle breeds, and the Charolais comes in among the top meat producing breeds.

The breed's origins date back to the time of Charlemagne, with their fame spreading throughout Europe by the time of the French Revolution. Today, Charolais can be found throughout the world, but especially in Europe and North America. They produce excellent quality beef and often are used to improve herds of other cattle breeds
Charolais tend to be hardy animals, able to withstand cold winters and warm summers. They can graze on pasture that many other breeds cannot use as efficiently, and gain weight and muscle rapidly. They have rugged hooves and also are able to walk over rough terrain. Cows calve easily, a trait prized among farmers and ranchers. Calves are born at a heavier weight than other breeds.

The breed tends to be large muscled, with bulls weighing weigh as much as 1100 to 1300 kg.  and cows up to 900 kg.

Belgian Blue

Belgian Blue
is a breed of beef cattle from Belgium. These cattle are referred to in French as
Race de la Moyenne et Haute Belgique, or, more commonly, Blanc Bleu Belge. Alternative names for this breed include Belgian Blue-White; Belgian White and Blue Pied; Belgian White Blue; Blue; and Blue Belgian.

The breed exists mainly in central and upper Belgium, but you can find the breed throughout the whole world. The Belgian Blue is known for its impressive muscle mass by extensive breeding and for its economic qualities, but also for the frequent use of caesareans. BB has been the best valued breed in the world for two decades
The main features are: extraordinary development of the musculature, the quality of the meat, the size, early development, good feed conversion, uniformity, obedience and suitability as a dam. A Belgian Blue animal is usually a double muscling, a cow with excessive muscle development. The meat of the Belgian Blue-White is of excellent quality: lean, tender and juicy thanks to the fine muscle fibres.
Since the cow has a low tendency for fat, it can be bred and fattened on the basis of an energy-rich diet, that results in an increase in weight without the risk of the formation of excessive fat.
Heifers calve optimally at the age of 24 months with an average body weight of 600 kg (just before calving). The gestation period is between 283 and 292 days with a limited range. A problem encountered with the Belgian White-Blue, is that calves have a double muscled shoulder. This doesn’t allow for the calves to pass through the birth canal. In case of purely double muscled animals, calves are all born by a way of a caesarean.
